Kathy wanted a place to kayak and try her hand at crabbing so we decided to go to Sidney Spit. It’s an idyllic spot at Sidney Island as long as the weather is settled. We were tired of all the loud noises at Victoria. The B.C. parliament demonstrators, the planes, the sirens, the cars screeching.Continue reading “It’s Crabbing Time”

A Tour Of Adventure (by Casey)
Casey thinks we are bad bloggers because we don’t even have a walk-through video of Adventure. Here is her video to inform our 21 subscribers of where we live for 6+ months of the year. For the more technically minded: Fuel: 178 gallons diesel (approx 900-1000 mile range) Solar: 1300 watts House batteries: 1200 ampsContinue reading “A Tour Of Adventure (by Casey)”
Day ONE of Casey’s Visit!
We woke up to drill instructor Casey banging on a garbage can lid. “RISE AND SHINE YOU MISERABLE BAGS OF COULD’VE-BEENS!” She got right in my face. “WHAT’S A MATTER, PRINCESS? TOO EARLY FOR YOU?” I groaned. I looked at the clock and it was only 0630. “TEN MINUTES. FULL UNIFORM. SHAVED, BOOTS BLISTERS ORContinue reading “Day ONE of Casey’s Visit!”
That’s not right!
They kicked me out!😢
She’s alive!
Despite rumors of Casey mysteriously disappearing, and being abducted by Bigfoot, I can assure you she is alive and well. She came to visit us in Victoria and has quite an itinerary planned for us. Stay tuned!🙂
Victoria!
It was 8:02 if you must know. Kathy had agreed the previous evening that we would be leaving at 8 but once again she wasn’t keeping her part of the deal… …Sorry, I was going to write a much longer blog but was cut short by the editor-in-chief. Our youngest daughter is flying in thisContinue reading “Victoria!”
So Long, Farewell
Well, it’s our last day at Roche Harbor Marina. Today we do something we haven’t done in a long time – Move. Kathy and I will now try to remember how to operate the boat again. 😬 Thanks again Roche Harbor Marina for taking such good care of care of us!
Sewing in the nuclear age
Kathy’s making pockets in our weather cloth for the new solar panels. I’ve chosen to manage this project as I know less than nothing about sewing. That entails mostly just asking “how’s it going?” and “when do you think you’ll be done?” every 15 minutes or so. Kathy sometimes makes the mistake of asking myContinue reading “Sewing in the nuclear age”
Power Upgrade!
Adventure has 1100 watts of solar power. I was quite proud of the upgrade until I ran into a man that had 1200. And then another. I whined to Kathy that we needed more solar. “You’re just using the air fryer too much,” I lied. She agreed that we could afford 2 more solar panels.Continue reading “Power Upgrade!”
A Tale of Woe (The Bow Light)
As you know, the month of April is dedicated to getting Adventure ready for the season. One of the obvious things we do is check all the navigation lights. To our surprise the bow light was not working. I immediately came to the conclusion that the bulb had probably burnt out, mostly motivated by theContinue reading “A Tale of Woe (The Bow Light)”
