It’s Getting Desperate!

There’s no longer anything good. No cookies, no milk, no chocolate. I could go on, but what’s the point.

Kathy tried to throw the Doritos bag away but I wouldn’t let her. “It’s empty,” she said. “Blah, blah, blah.” She continued.

I stopped listening. I was starting to get the shakes. “I…need…PRESERVATIVES!”

When we sail between the US / Canadian border, we first use up most of our fresh foods so we don’t get in trouble with customs. We mainly avoid fresh eggs, most veggies, all fruits, and uncooked meats. Since we came across the border over a week ago and landed at an island with no grocery store, we are down to the bottom of the barrel. Kathy even started eyeing our emergency provisions canned food drawer.

She says we still have cabbage, so we’re good for another day. “This how mutinies happen!” I yelled.

Kathy agreed we could go to town across the strait, but then I saw her raise her hands and summon a great wind. Adventure creaked and groaned as she pulled on the mooring. I hid in the bedroom. I covered myself with all the blankets and tried to hide my cowardice.

Kathy swung open the door in dramatic fashion. I jumped. “When do you want to go?” she asked nonchalantly. A big gust hit Adventure and I swallowed hard. I tried to sound brave. “I think you’re right, we can wait another day.”

Kathy exclaimed, “Oh goodie! I can try out that cabbage recipe I found.”
